Known for its extensive root system, cold hardiness, grazeability, and nutrient cycling, rye is widely used in many cover crop situations. Its vast fibrous root system alleviates surface compaction and prevents erosion. Rye can germinate in temps as low as 34 degree F and will photosynthesize in temperatures as low as 38 degrees F making it super versatile for late fall \/early winter plantings. Cereal rye is known for being the best cereal crop at retaining residual N. The vigorous spring growth has successful weed suppression through competition and allelopathic chemicals. It can also make an excellent forage crop. Rye can be terminated in the spring through the alternative methods of rolling, mowing, or crimping after boot stage. Rye will out yield any other cereal crops when planted in droughty, infertile, or sandy soils. \u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"GreenCover","offers":[{"title":"2000 lb tote","offer_id":45356071715032,"sku":"CSGR077t","price":480.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"50 lb bag","offer_id":45356071747800,"sku":"CSGR077a","price":14.5,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"25 lb bag","offer_id":45356071780568,"sku":"CSGR077b","price":9.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"10 lb bag","offer_id":45356071813336,"sku":"CSGR077c","price":4.8,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0524\/6576\/2459\/files\/gc-bag-product-photo-2024_7_f7d8b532-ef2c-49ab-b5ec-6747c2258010.png?v=1722868851","url":"https:\/\/greencover.com\/products\/cereal-rye-cardinal","provider":"Green Cover","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
