Planting InstructionsSummer Release is best seeded using a no-till drill or other seeding device at a depth of 1/4" to 3/4" pending on soil conditions. Planting too deep usually results in more problems than planting too shallow. It can also be broadcast into areas with minimal plant competition such as a new plot or one where a seedbed has recently been prepared. Light incorporation or dragging can help with seed to soil contact but don't cover seeds with more than 3/4” of soil.
TimingSummer Release should be planted during the spring when the leaves on trees are almost fully formed or more precisely when the soil temperature at 2” deep at 9:00 AM is 60 degrees or warmer. There are lots of websites that report the current soil temperature daily for each county.
Summer Release has a minimum germination temp of 60 °F. Reference your average soil temperature to determine ideal planting time.

To start with my expectations were not very high because my wife and I were not able to start our half acre food plot on top of a ridge until April.
After removing many trees and Flora, Rose, brush and undergrowth without any heavy equipment, we were finally able to spread the 75% of lime that was recommended on April 12.
On May 19, we used a small groundhog tiller on the back of our quad to scratch up the dirt and then we were finally able to broadcast our summer release and then used a yard roller to
Run over it the best we could to get a good seed to dirt contact. We did this just before a good rain which we received 1.5 inches that folded the next two days.
From what I am seeing on my camera, it appears to be growing very well.
I just planted it yesterday, but if what it did last year is any indication it will be a great crop.
I heard about the Release Process/Blends through Dr. Grant Woods. We planted the Summer Release blend into NE Alabama extremely compacted red clay cattle pasture soil. We were not expecting much. Maybe knee high plants if anything. We drilled it right before a good 1/2 inch rain. The germination rate almost seemed like 100% on every seed that was on top of the ground. But the amount of forage/grain that it produced was mind blowing. We wound up having the best dove hunt we've ever had in 50 years. The pictures say it all. On top of that....the customer service is awesome. I will never buy seed from any other supplier.

Planted Mid March in Auburn Alabama. now in Mid April the plots are already almost a foot tall even with the deer and turkeys on it every day.
Excellent growth and vigor! I’m impressed with how well the seed is doing. In my case I seem to have a very high concentration of millet? There are other species but they seem to be shaded by the millet. I’m happy with the product and its performance relative to my other plots.
Great mix, good coverage, even doing the minimum to save money,drillin rate but i broadcast seeded, filled in great and lots of food!
So far it’s growing really well. Excited to see sunflowers popping later in the summer!

I love this seed it does well in little hidey holes. However don't make the same mistake I made by not planting enough. I recommend this product.
I planted 2 plots. One with green cover one with a similar mix I put together. There is absolutely no comparison mine barely came up green cover absolutely flourished. I’m very excited for fall!!
Of course Ill say its very expensive, but the product itself is excellent. This is my 8th season of no till drilling, and I'd say this is the best year so far. Germination rate is thru the roof!

The Deer have ate down only some grasses left
I love Growing Deer Tv. I want to make that clear, but I planted this summer release and spent 1000.00 dollars hoping to see sunflowers and soybeans. I have 3.5 acres of grain sorghum. Just a little disappointed after spending that much money. Going back to soybeans next year, but I love the release process.

I had never used summer release until this year, it was a wet spring and I didn't get it drilled until June10th, 6 days later it was coming up great. I have a great stand of all varieties in the mix,very pleased with the germination.

Had a some insect damage, and the germination seems to be poor.

planted 30 days ago and I haven't seen a single sign of growth in the entire 2.5 acres. I'm not sure if it was something I did.
