Frost seeding cover crops generally involves incorporating clover species into a dormant cereal crop. Sometimes this works and others times it does not. A general rule of thumb is that the better your cereal crop is, the worse your companion crop will be and vice versa. We have had better success sowing clovers into spring seeded cereals as both crops get started at the same time. Experiment with interseeding into winter cereals on a small scale and try different clovers and different seeding dates.
